OB Beach Cottage

I’ve already shared this listing with friends to stay here when they come to San Diego - especially if you have a dog!! It’s walkable to the weekly farmers market, restaurants, and the dog beach. I loved my stay, felt very safe and comfortable at night. Would absolutely stay here again.

The pups and I loved the place. Walkable to dog beach. The A/C unit was much appreciated to keep the place cool, and reduce the humidity. Having a parking space was perfect. Will definitely stay again! :-)

Very cute little bungalow close to the beach and a short walk to restaurants and shops. The host is very responsive and helpful. Beach chairs, a kitchen stocked with dishes, pots, and other needed items. The bathroom is clean and the shower has good water pressure. The bedding is lovely although the bed was saggy in the middle, but that is being replaced soon! If you are not stable on your feet, be careful of the entry pavers/stones and of the fireplace in the bedroom. Would def stay again.

Our stay here was great! The location is unbeatable which really makes the experience special. Check in was super easy and the host was easy to communicate with. The only negative is the bed could really use an upgrade. It’s sinking in the middle which made sleep not the most comfortable. But otherwise everything was great.

Barebones and basic cottage near the beach. There are some privacy issues (one window and a glass door has neither curtains, nor blinds. Outlets are sparse (there is none by the table, which made working difficult) and the mattress is soft and worn. The parking spot is perfect and fits larger vehicles without problems. Plenty of food options are just a short walk away. We had a great time.

Not our first stay here and won’t be our last. Such a good location! Quiet, very walkable to everything OB has to offer and the dog park a block away! Laundry on site is a huge bonus as is the onsite parking which is a big deal in the area. Love it here and will be back soon!

Great location if you want to be close to the beach. Only 15 minutes to the San Diego airport. Quiet neighborhood. Off-street dedicated parking spot was very helpful, as the street parking is packed in this area. If you are sensitive to synthetic fragrances, I would not stay here as it has a very strong synthetic fragrance scent throughout the home, but if that doesn't bother you, then it's a great spot, especially due to the location.

Clean, bright, great location right next to the ocean park dog beach! Kara was super responsive and provided very clear instructions. She was flexible too. The place is very close to some great local restaurants and the area has a great beach vibe. Bed was super comfortable, bathroom and kitchen clean and well stocked, really a great OB rental!!!

We loved our stay. The family in the main residence was really thoughtful about our privacy, but also willing to talk and connect. They even have a dog who is super sweet and great with new friends. The fenced in area was great for our dog. Even though it was really rainy while we were there the beach was fun to head to and just a couple houses away. Parking is easy and the location is easy to get to. The neighborhood is full of friendly people and the beach is active, but there’s plenty of space to hang out with your dog. Everyone’s good at staying leashed up too. There will be lots of airplane noise, but that’s 90% of San Diego. There’s plenty of great food within a 20 min drive. Kara is very good at communicating and proactive at helping out. The stay is well kept and clean. The small things like water filters, lots of towels, plenty of toiletries, boogie boards/chairs, etc. make the difference. Definitely would recommend this place and come again!

One of our favorite places we’ve stayed in OB! We stay a few times a year on our travels and this has so far been the best. Walkable to the beach, restaurants and everything OB has to offer yet off the busy streets for quiet. Great off street parking which is a huge plus in this area. Place was clean, had everything and was just as pictured and described. We loved it!

We stayed a week with our dog and it was kinda the perfect beach cottage hideaway. It's small but had everything we needed. And the location was dynamite. We walked to the dog beach twice a day and walked to local shops and restaurants. We basically didn't need our car once we got there. The place is clean and well kept and Kara was very responsive and made it everything easy. We'd stay again for sure.

This little beach cottage is in the absolute greatest location if your looking for a fun filled ocean beach getaway. The beach is literally right around the corner. I loved being able to walk around everywhere- especially with my little doggie. I don’t necessarily recommend for a long term stay as it’s an older smaller place but Aaron definitely is a great communicative host who will go out of his way to accommodate you.

Super cute and great location (really anywhere in the OB area is a great location and walking distance to everything). We brought our dog so the small fenced yard was nice. We could leave the door open for fresh air and not worry. It is a short fence on the side against the main house's yard so if you have a jumper be aware. Also feels like a bit of a lack of privacy but not a big deal unless that's something you're looking for. It's always nice to have a parking spot. It was a little tight if cars were parked next to us but really not bad. The only reason didn't give 5 stars is because the mattress REALLY needs to be replaced. Also, be aware that the fold out sofa is pretty small. An adult would not fit/sleep well on it. (though maybe better than on that mattress on the bed.) As listed there is laundry but it's in the backyard of the main house. Made me wonder if it was ok to use it. There were no notes in the guesthouse about that or WIFI info but Kara did reply quickly to just about all of our questions. I'd just rather not have questions ;) We did use the laundry but had to remove the owners stuff from the dryer to do so. A bit awkward. That said, we really did enjoy our stay and with a new mattress we would definitely book it again!

Couldn’t recommend this place enough! Kara is fast with responses but there wasn’t much need to even communicate (she did check on me tho which was nice!) is perfectly located like half block off the beach and easy walking to so many great coffee shops and restaurants. It was super clean and the decor was cute and simple! This spot feels open and inviting and comfortable and I’d definitely stay again!

HIDDEN GEM….. Only 1 block from the beach. Walking distance to everything. Restaurants, bars, coffee shops are all in the neighborhood. You can walk out onto the pier in 10min from the door. There are cliffs that over look the ocean just down the street. The bungalow itself is perfect. There’s a nice patio for you to enjoy coffee in the morning (coffee machine stocked with coffee pods). The bed was very comfortable as well. I will be staying here again

This was a fun spot. It's close to the beach and near lots of excellent places to walk. The enclosed doggy space outside is a real perk. It's nice to be able to let the dogs hang outside and be able to relax with them.

Great place overall! Walking distance to a great beach!! But be prepared for a camping cabin type vibe. No filtered water, no wine glasses or short glasses of any type, no TV other than the basic 8 channels, EXTREMELY loud basic A/C set-up, fridge was mostly broken, couch slides out when you sit on it. In addition, the 10am check-out is a HARD 10am. At 9:50, cleaning person was watching us load up our car. But I really liked the beach proximity! It would be a perfect spot if they got a better couch and TV, some wine glasses, fixed the fridge, and/or were just a little more upfront about the lack of some amenities.

Eva, first off thanks for the visit. Apologies about your interaction with the cleaners. With Covid and all the heavy duty high temp washes (that take 90 instead of 45 minutes) and hard surface cleaning they are constantly under the gun to get things cleaned in a timely fashion. I believe I actually had extra wine glasses delivered the second day you were there. Fridge actually works fine (not sure why you were having an issue). It is a beach bungalow and not a luxury resort but the kitchen is well-stocked with everything 99% of our guests expect...it is a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, blender, toaster and coffee maker (if that is how you camp I want to join!). Couch was just not latched correctly after someone pulled out the sofa bed so I added a note to the check out info and brought it to my cleaner's attention as well.

Very cute beach cottage that was perfect for a couple. Plenty of towels provided, along with extra blankets in a closet. Vase of fresh flowers was a lovely touch! Just a few mins by foot to the OB dog beach and beach volleyball courts, and lots of awesome restaurants and other local businesses within half a mile (check out Hungry Lu’s for sandwiches and cannoli, It’s Raw Poke for super authentic and delicious poke, and Azucar for amazing Cuban baked goods!)

We were so pleased with this quaint spot in Ocean Beach. Walking to Dog Beach with our pup was so easy and OB is just a great spot to stay with a dog. So many cute restaurants and cafes that are pet-friendly in walking distance to the home. Parking was exceptionally easy (we have stayed in several places in OB and this is by far the largest parking spot we have every had!). The outdoor patio is perfect for morning coffee or grilling up and sharing a meal. And it was so nice to have the free washer/dryer to be able to wash clothes before heading home. We had no issue with Vacation Rentals by Aaron's pet policy. We were much happier to save the typical up-front pet fee that most managers charge and rely on being responsible pet owners. We asked what we might get charged for and it seemed reasonable that if we did not clean up the yard (who wouldn't?) or if the cleaners had to spend extra time getting pet fur out of the sofa or bedding (we bring a blanket that covers the furniture our dog uses so no issue there!) we would be charged for the extra cleaning. Much better deal to be a responsible pet owner than be charged $250 for bringing a pet who is cleaner than we are. Communication was to notch and the departure instructions were clear and just like every other AirBNB we have stayed at (take out trash, wash the dishes, clean off the beach items, hang wet towels, turn off the heater (or AC, which we do not use in Nov) and get out by check out (we actually requested and received a late check out)). All in all a top notch beach getaway for a weekend with our dog. We will be back again!

We were first time airbnb'ers and this was an overall great experience. The people at Aaron's were available when we needed them and there were explicit instructions and expectations well up front. The location and the amenities were above satisfactory and we really had a great stay in part because of the extra mile of the folks at Aaron's.

This is a cute, little beach cottage about a block from Ocean Beach,maybe 2.5 blocks from Dog Beach. We stayed with three people, and were quite comfortable, but it might be a bit tight with more than that. The outdoor space is fantastic, and is totally enclosed. Our dog loved it! The kitchen in the cottage is very tiny, but has the basic amenities needed for simple meals. There is really no usable counter space, or food storage space (other than the fridge.) The air conditioner in the living room was much appreciated, although it did not help in cooling the bedroom. However, the temperature drops at night, and opening the double doors to let the sea breeze in worked well. There is not much room on either side of the master bed, so it is a bit awkward. The pull out couch in the living room is super comfortable! The decor is super cute, and the wifi works really well.

Scott, thanks for the visit. Apologize about the AC. Owner was in the property over the 4th and had gone in to replace the window AC in the living room with a portable one in the bedroom and failed to let me know that he didn't finish the job as he was waiting for a part to vent the unit properly. As it was not all that warm he figured it would have been fine. Needless to say the AC was placed in the bedroom and the unit is functional.

Cute spot, great location. Make sure you book with the correct number of guests bc they will only leave enough linens in the closet for the number you book. But when we couldn’t find linens they were quick to respond, even at 2 am! Walking distance to the beach and some bars and restaurants. Overall great.

Jessie, apologies but our cleaners try to match guests and linens to save time, energy and water (being that we are in a desert!) so they only put out the linens for the extra bedding when the reservation indicates that there is a need. It is also why there is a small extra guest fee ($20/nt) when we host more than 2 at this guesthouse. It is the fairest way possible to price the unit for 2 guests and yet allow small families to find an affordable option at the beach. Glad we could help you at 2am! We try to be available to handle just about anything at any time!

This place was adorable and in a great location - walking distance to the sand! We love Ocean Beach for its eclectic culture and diversity - not your run of the mill beach area - it's got a really cool, hippie-chic vibe. Aaron was a true professional and very responsive. I was a bit worried about the outdoor space because a prior review mentioned fleas. We didn't notice any at all and especially enjoyed our evenings outside on the patio. Having 2 parking spots at the beach was also really great!!

This is a really cute cabin steps from the beach. There are lots of great places to eat around and coffee shops. It's only a 1-minute walk to the beach! The cabin itself is clean, cozy and stylish inside. The only drawback to the location is that the ally behind the cabin is a bit stinky with garbage cans, but most times its fine. If you like Ocean Beach, you will love this place. Lots of local flavor and fun things to do around. A great value in a great city!!!
