This place is most certainly about location, so close to the beach and walkable to restaurants and shops. House definitely needs some updates, a dishwasher would have been nice, but overall it’s a relaxed vibe and we had a pleasant stay.

We were 3 colleagues visiting San Diego for work. The location was great, within walking distance of several good restaurants and grocery stores. We had an issue with the electricity and then with the hot water, but the communication was incredibly quick and efficient, and these problems were resolved in no time. The beds were extremely comfortable with high-quality sheets and pillows. We really liked the place.

Aaron was a very responsive host. Home was extremely close to the beach ( 2 short blocks). There was one parking spot in back which was great because parking on the street was very full all the time. Kitchen had everything we needed. The location was so close to restaurants and many interesting shops and a great health food store nearby. It was nice that each of the 3 bedrooms had its own private door to go in and out of because all the bedrooms were right next to each other and you had to walk thru each room to get to the living room. This area of town is very busy with surfers and a lot of beach action. The home was clean and very bright and cheerful colors. I would stay here again.

Had a great trip, total of 5 of us and our fur baby. Amazing location super close, walking distance about 5 minutes to ocean beach and dog beach. Margaritaville was the perfect location for Ocean Beach and the sights we saw in San Diego. The outdoor courtyard made the whole trip! It is definitely a beach house; space is limited but very comfortable and the main bedroom is spacious! Just a couple things to note that we did not realize, this house is in the departure path of San Diego Airport. We heard planes taking off from before 6am to 11pm and they were loud. I was surprised no one else had remarked on that. Maybe they have different flight paths, but we heard the planes the whole weekend. The second thing is trivial, but there were no kitchen towels in the house. With washing dishes all weekend, it would have been great to have kitchen towels to dry them with, but we made do. Overall, a great place and we would stay there again if we return to Ocean Beach.

Elizabeth, glad you enjoyed the space. As for the noise, the entirety of OB is in the flight path (our central urban airport is great to come and go easily but the planes do take off over the ocean). However, the flight paths will vary greatly based on weather and most people find that they habituate to the sound quickly. I will check with my cleaners about leaving behind extra dish towels. Two points: the gate wasn’t secure which allowed unwelcome religious individuals to walk into the backyard, we were good. 2nd: The house really could use some weather stripping around the doors (the unusual cold weather kept us wrapped in blankets) indoors.

Gertrude, thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, weatherstripping is not gonna solve what is essentially construction in San Diego, which isn’t built for cold weather. That being said the heaters in that unit are exceptionally good at heating the house, so I’m not sure why you would need blankets if you had turned on the heaters. I’m sorry the Jehovah’s Witness decided to knock on the door that day, but it is something that’s gonna happen to time to time in a neighborhood. I’m not sure how I could secure a gate that accesses the common yard in a way that would prevent someone from getting in since that would prevent the guests from getting in as well. We always strive for five stars, but we realize that there are some people for whom five stars are impossible. Vacation Rentals by Aaron

Such a great location only a block from the beach! Cool little beach bungalow with a nice back outdoor space. The three bedrooms are all connected which was a little challenging for 2 young kids who woke up and then set off a chain reaction but I can’t fault the host for that. The property management was responsive and friendly and the house was super cute! Only downside was no dishwasher.

Pros: Great location and cute, comfortable home. Host was responsive and helpful. The best part was truly the short walking distance to the beach. There was plenty of space and room for everyone to feel comfortable. Having on-site laundry was convenient and useful. The linens, napkins, sheets and towels were very clean. Aaron even allowed a two hour late check out which was deeply appreciated. Cons: Unfortunately the dishes were greasy and the floor was quite sandy upon arrival. Checkout chores were not terrible but I would have preferred those be disclosed on the listing and not after check in as I prefer to choose Airbnbs that don’t require the guests to do any chores when there is a cleaning fee (in this case ~$200)

Amy, thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the space and your visit. We do try to pay a living wage to our cleaners (which is not easy in San Diego). I will talk to them about the dishes and sand (which, in reality is basically impossible to get rid of completely at the beach). As for check out we only ask that no dirty dishes are left out and trash is taken out, both in service of the fact that sometimes it takes a day for the cleaner to get in and we want to prevent pests. This listing was in a prime location, great proximity to the beach, and lots of outdoor space. we enjoyed some of the amenities such as the BBQ grill, cooking equipment, Roku TV, and the fire wood we were able to use for a bonfire at the beach was a nice touch. Bedroom layout is a bit weird: you they are all in a row like chickens on a stick and you have to walk though one to get to the next and then thorough that one to get to the last one. Each bedroom also has a door that leads into the courtyard, so you could go from the bedroom to the kitchen/living room through the courtyard if you don’t want to have to walk through the other bedrooms. Beds were super comfy!

Aaron’s place is a nice beach house in the perfect location. Pros: Walking distance to beach All beach gear provided (chairs, toys, towels) Large patio area Great communication Cons: The bedrooms all blend together so there isn’t a ton of privacy It’s a little run down, definitely a beach house Could be cleaner, nothing big deal, just dust bunnies around

This place is such a gem. When it says 100 steps from the beach, it really is. The location was very close to everything and that made our trip awesome. In addition to the location, the host was friendly, accommodating, and very swift to respond to messages. We felt valued and it made the trip that much better because we felt secured and taken care of. The bungalow is adorable. The location was great and we just opened everything up and enjoyed the breeze. When we wanted to just relax and watch a movie, the couch was huge and comfortable and the TV was awesome - there’s Netflix, Disney, Tubi, everything! We loved the backyard, it was huge! And there’s BBQ and benches - we were able to gather as a family and just had such a relaxing time. The bedrooms are awesome! They were connected and had their own access to the backyard which was advertised. Everything was accurate. The linens were clean and set up very nice. We did not have to bring pillows, blankets, pots, etc. everything was provided like a home. Down from the the towels, cleaning supplies to the cups and utensils, it’s all clean and set up in a nice way. I love the mini bar! I am looking forward to booking the place again with a bigger party because it’s so cozy and close to everything!!! Again thank you for our host. So far you have been the most accommodating, hospitable, and informative person we have had here.

The location is perfect with many great restaurants, bars around as well as a quick walk to ocean beach. My puppies never had better time staying in the beach house soooo close to the dog beach and Ocean Beach town. We stayed in Aaron’s place for nearly three weeks over December. The place is ideally positioned, mere minutes to the beach on foot and about a seven minute walk to the center of Ocean Beach with loads of restaurants, shops and a grocery store, Target and Starbucks. The place is very comfortable, fully kitted out with everything you could need/want—particularly in the kitchen. The photos/description of the house are accurate and it was plenty big for three adults, a baby and our pets. Location, Location, Location! With the beach at the end of the street, enjoying beach time anytime without the hassle of finding parking was enjoyable. The house itself had plenty of space for my group and we enjoyed the courtyard space. We did love that there were fans available in addition to the A/C units. I think my only complaint is the bedroom situation, since they are all connected with a door for privacy. If you prefer to stay indoors and get to the secondary bedroom, you cannot avoid walking through the master bedroom to get to it. If someone plans to get to the kitchen from the secondary bedroom, you have to either go outdoors through the courtyard and then the side kitchen door, or, walk through the master bedroom. In addition, the master bedroom does not have an ensuite bathroom, it's bathroom is outside of the room facing the common area. These are minor things, and dealt with accordingly. As for the beds, they were all comfy. Plenty of towels were provided, and the body wash, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the showers were a nice touch. Parking in the back was great but if you got a full-size SUV, expect tight maneuvers and you'll be fine. Overall, it was a great stay, and if Vacation Rentals By Aaron will let me, I'd love to stay again. Staying in OB gave me a better appreciation of San Diego. Loved it!

Had a wonderful experience in this house with an AMAZING location. So close to bars, and the beach- including the best dog beach I’ve ever been to. The house itself is cute, with a wonderful back yard and great front porch. It gets a little hot- we learned quickly that you just open all the windows and turn on the fans, the beach air will cool everything down. Will totally be back!!

Our 3rd time renting in Ocean Beach and this location is our favorite. The host has thought of everything and contributes a wonderful array of extras to help enjoy a beach vacation. A great plus is hearing the ocean at night (when windows are open). It’s less than 1/2 block to the sand. Wonderful outdoor areas in the back & front. Easy parking. Comfortable bed & furniture. AC units helped keep the rooms cool during the hottest week of the year.

This rental is in a great location. We walked to the beach in less than five minutes and to shopping and restaurants in less than ten. It was nicely appointed and had everything we needed for ourselves and our two teenage children. Would definitely rent again next time we're back in San Diego.

Amazing spot to stay with a large group! We were a literal 1 minute walk from the beach and minutes from downtown food, breweries, and shops. The house was very clean and provided us a great hangout spot inside and out on the patio when we weren't exploring Ocean Beach. Would highly recommend and stay again, thank you for having us!

Aaron's house was the perfect spot for our 4-person team retreat. It was great to sit around the table in the big back yard, and work outside in the fresh air during the day, and check out the sights and sounds of OB in the evening. Leah thank you for the review. We have updated the description in the listing to make it clear that each bedroom has a separate entrance off of the patio. The bedrooms are contiguous at the back of the house but you are able to enter each bedroom without going through another bedroom by the French doors in the rear or the door to the patio from the second bedroom. Only the master bedroom is accessed from the main portion of the house and you don't have to go through it to get to the other ones because of those additional doors. We actually find that most guests like that lay out because they spend so much time on the patio they end up just going to bed from there!

The self-titled “Margaritaville” is a good option close to the beach in OB. There is adequate space and parking for 2 cars, it was clean and just as expected from a management-company-run rental. We were there in February, but the heating was adequate and we were comfortable, and hosts were responsive and accommodating.

This is a great place to stay if you love the Ocean Beach neighborhood and the entire vibe emanating from this unique scene in San Diego. The house can easily accommodate six people and would be particularly fun to be during warmer weather (we stayed there in February) to take advantage of the back porch area, which is all set up to BBQ and/or just sit outside enjoying your favorite beverage. The house itself has all you need, though we found the Roku box that controls the TV in the living room didn't seem to work as well with the Wi-Fi as other devices we had connected to the network, for some reason. But you probably aren't going to be watching much TV anyway if you are in Ocean Beach, right? The house is just a short walk to the main strip in OB, Newport Avenue, where there is always fun to be had, with plenty of good food and drinks. The decor in this house is all about Margaritaville, from the front door right down to the pillows on the couch, which should appeal to all the Parrotheads out there. Deadheads and fans of other music might not like it quite as much, but it won't stop you from enjoying this very cozy and convenient spot.

We loved our trip and staying in Ocean Beach! House was the perfect size for us, parking was easy, it had everything we needed, and the location couldn’t be better. It was just a minute walk to the beach and a few minute drive to Newport Avenue with all of the restaurants, and really close to Sea World and the zoo. We will be back!

We had a fantastic weekend in Brighton Avenue’s cottage. A few steps from Ocean Beach and Dog Beach, walking distance from fun restaurants. Cottage was sparkling clean and had everything needed. Linens, towels, toiletries were up to par with a hotel, but with the cozy home touch of an AirBnB.

Large and perfect for up to 6 persons. Nice with two bathrooms and a large space outside in the garden (To use together with other people who rent the small house). No Air condition as in most of the beach houses. Just near the Ocean Beach.
